Governor Glenn Youngkin Announces $812K in Matching Grants for Virginia Festivals and Events

Governor Glenn Youngkin has unveiled plans to support the vibrant cultural scene in Virginia by awarding $812,139 in matching grants to 81 festivals and events across the state. This funding comes through the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Special Events & Festivals Sponsorship Program, a strategic initiative designed to elevate marketing efforts and enhance event production.

With a combined $5.6 million investment, the program is geared towards attracting more than 2 million visitors to Virginia by 2025. These efforts are expected to boost overnight visitation, benefiting local businesses and tourism-driven industries in communities from coast to mountains. The initiative supports over 324 tourism-oriented partners statewide, ensuring the continued growth of Virginia’s events and festivals industry.

The grants are aimed at improving event visibility, creating dynamic marketing campaigns, and enhancing event experiences that will drive tourism. In a statement, Governor Youngkin emphasized the importance of supporting these events as key economic drivers, helping to foster growth in local economies and create lasting cultural connections for visitors and residents alike.

As Virginia prepares for a surge in tourism, the Special Events & Festivals Sponsorship Program is set to be a crucial component of the state’s tourism strategy, positioning Virginia as a premier destination for events in 2025 and beyond.
